Endovenous Laser Therapy

Endovenous Laser Ablation or treatment is an alternative to surgical stripping of the Great Saphenous Vein in the thigh and the Small Saphenous Vein in the back of the calf.  A small laser fiber is inserted through a needle placed through the skin into the damaged vein. Laser light is delivered inside the vein, which causes the vein to collapse and seal shut. The procedure is done in-office under local anesthesia.

Following the procedure a bandage and compression hose is placed on the treated leg. Endovenous Laser Treatment is FDA-approved for the treatment of the Greater Saphenous Vein and is also being used for treatment of the Short Saphenous Vein and smaller branches as well.  The latest studies show the procedure to be more than 95% effective in closing a vein at 2 years.
