Endovenous Laser Ablation

Endovenous Laser Ablation is a treatment alternative to surgical stripping of the Saphenous Veins. A small laser fiber is inserted through a needle placed through the skin into the damaged vein. Laser light is delivered inside the vein, which causes the vein to collapse and seal shut. The procedure is done in-office under local anesthesia.

Following the procedure a bandage and compression hose is placed on the treated leg. Endovenous Laser Ablation is FDA-approved for the treatment of the Greater Saphenous Vein and is also being used for treatment of the Lesser Saphenous Vein and smaller branches as well.  The latest studies show the procedure to be more than 94% effective in closing the saphenous vein at 2 years.
