Hair Removal

     We offer hair removal using an Epilight Intense Pulsed Light device.   The basis for this method of hair removal is the absorption of light by the melanin in the hair follicle which results in heating and death of the follicle.

 

     This is particularly effective for individuals with darker hair and lighter skin. 

 

     Hair is removed by shaving before each treatment(plucking and depilatory creams cannot be used since hair must remain in the follicle to absorb the light). Treatments are repeated as soon as the hair begins to regrow which depends on the location being treated.  Generally areas such as the back, legs may take up to two months and the chin may regrow within several weeks.  Good results can be obtained with as little as three treatments.

 

The treatments feel like snapping the skin with a rubber band.  We  offer topical anesthetics if desired.
